OSWAPIC History
The Oregon & Southern Washington APIC (OSWAPIC) chapter was formed in 1977, and registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Through the years, the chapter has grown to encompass all of Oregon and part of Southern Washington State.
Our purpose is to influence, support and improve the quality and safety of healthcare through the practice and management of infection prevention and the application of epidemiologic principles in ALL healthcare settings.
Infection Preventionists (IPs) play a crucial role in keeping the public safe and healthy. In addition to fighting a global pandemic, the infection prevention and control community is protecting us from surges in healthcare-associated infections, measles outbreaks, flu season, and so many other day-to-day infectious battles.
At OSWAPIC, our influence extends beyond infection prevention; we are shaping the future of healthcare in Oregon and Washington. With a dedicated growing network with representation of acute care, ambulatory, long term care, and public health settings, our community is a vibrant tapestry of professionals committed to innovation, excellence, and collaboration in the field of infection prevention.
Our chapter's initiatives have led to significant advancements in infection control protocols across healthcare settings in our region. By facilitating ongoing education and professional development, we empower our community to implement effective strategies that protect patients and healthcare workers alike.
Join us in our mission to create safer and healthier environments for ALL!
